Life Skills - TACADE

NPS Lions is proud of its work in helping the young people in our locality with the development of life skills. All Lions Clubs in the British Isles and Ireland wish to see that young people receive the best possible education in the development of the skills enabling them to avoid the social problems that they may encounter during their school life. Consequently, through Lions International, we have formed a partnership with ‘The Advisory Council for Alcohol and Drug Education'-TACADE - which provide high quality education programmes. NPS Lions are keen to promote and facilitate the use of these programmes in our local community.

Smoking, excessive drinking and recreational drug taking are examples of the problems that TACADE educational programmes teach to avoid. A new Tacade guide to bereavement and other major life changing incidents has just been published.

Tacade publications will also enable schools in England to be Ofsted ready and to meet the Every Child Matters agenda.

The programmes help teachers meet the Government Standards for Personal, Social and Health Education - PSHE.

NPS Lions are working with local teachers to create an awareness of these programmes and how they may be used to make teaching this subject easier and more fun.

As well as promoting the programmes, we are willing to pay the cost of providing them to our local schools and other institutions, subject to committee approval and on the understanding that staff have appropriate instruction/training, along with feedback to NP & S Lions, on use of the material.

If your school or institution wishes to find out more about our Life Skills Programme please contact our Tacade Officer at tacade@npslions.co.uk
